Everything has its price.

Everything has its price.
Traditional · United States

Meaning in plain English

Everything having a price pictures benefits or choices as carrying a cost. The saying asks what must be given or borne for an outcome.

Example

Someone considers the time and responsibilities attached to an offer as well as its stated monetary cost.

Deeper explanation and when to use it

Everything is an absolute that does not establish a literal market value for all things. A responsible interpretation can examine practical tradeoffs without treating people, dignity or consent as purchasable. Some costs are nonmonetary, and a claimed price does not automatically make a transaction acceptable.

When to use it

Use it to discuss actual tradeoffs with limits on commodification respected.

Keep in mind

No universal saleability, fixed price or permission to buy another person’s rights is established.
