Few words are best.
Few words are best.

Understand the thought
Meaning in plain English
A concise statement can communicate more clearly than unnecessary elaboration. The saying values economy of expression, while leaving room for the detail, questions and explanations a particular situation genuinely needs.
What the words are saying
The brief form demonstrates its own preference for saying what matters without adding more than the purpose requires. Figuratively, it can encourage a speaker or writer to identify the main point and remove distracting repetition. Few words are not automatically the best response: a complicated question may need careful detail, and an unexplained instruction can create confusion. The useful standard is adequacy rather than a fixed length. Ask what the listener needs to understand or decide, then provide it clearly. Concision can serve that aim, but it should not become a reason to withhold context, interrupt a person or make necessary discussion unwelcome.
Everyday example
A host replaces a repeated series of reminders with one clear message containing the time, entrance and contact details participants need.
When to use it
Use it when repetition or unnecessary detail is making a message harder to follow.
What it does not mean
Brevity should preserve necessary information and room for questions, not merely reduce word count.
Agent-assisted editorial interpretation. This explains the words; it does not by itself verify their author or earliest origin.
