To hang the laws so high that no citizen could read them is injustice, .. that the knowledge of the law is accessible only to those who have made it their professional study. At one time the administration of justice, which is concerned with the private interests of all members of the state, was in this way turned into an instrument of profit and tyranny, when the knowledge of the law was buried in pedantry and a foreign tongue, and the knowledge of legal process was similarly buried in involved formalities. One must discard the prejudice that the truth must be something tangible. God is nothing else than abstract being, which is the same as nothing.
