Dramatic Romances

Robert Browning

Count Gismond places a declaration about truth within a speaker’s account of accusation, combat and rescue. A Grammarian’s Funeral compares modest completed tasks with an ambitious scholarly life through the voice of the mourners. Read the whole poems before making either voice into Browning’s direct advice. Both selected historical anthology passages match this transcription under limited case, punctuation and spacing comparison, with aligned line counters removed for the longer grammarian passage. The editors’ introduction and notes are historical interpretation, not an Edsverb endorsement.
