UndatedNationalism leads to all sorts of nasty things (even Nazi things) like fascism and war.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedPeace with non-fundamentalists terrifies the fundamentalist because to them, being Christian doesn't mean just being 'good' - it means being 'better' than others. Being better that others means having to see them as enemies - and making war on them. The fundamentalist views not being allowed to make war on their enemies as oppression of their faith, or defeat.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedHow very like humans to pervert a message of love and peace to make it into an ideology of war and oppression to serve their own ends.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIn my view, any government whose state is perpetually at war, and remains so in spite of initiatives to make peace, is incompetent and unfit and should resign.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedWhat i know from history is this: Those who do not appreciate their freedom and aren't prepared to protect it, will lose it.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedFreedom is being whole on my own and not needing somebody else to complete me.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedBecause freedom and liberty and equality are as vital as breath, we only notice their absence when we are left gasping when the colors of diversity and individual liberty are drained from the world around us.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIt seems that the price of having freedom is having to constantly fight to keep it.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedFreedom isn't hard to lose - but it's a hard thing to win back once it's been lost.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIs human dignity and human life so cheap that the rights protecting it can be traded away to appease the appetite for intimidation and prejudice of a vicious and self-centered group - for whatever reason, power, politics, nationalism, or unity?Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIt seems to me that wherever religion and politics mix in one body, fascist values - and not 'family values' - rear their ugly head.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedThe patriarchy longs for the days 'when men were men' and women were oppressed, subservient - and they can see no wrong in it. It justifies its former power and lust to hold on to it - and if possible, to regain it by quoting fundamentalist and radical religion and tradition and calling it 'love'. Some love. How can oppression and power over another person's life ever be 'love'?Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedI can understand backward patriarchal reasoning coming from a male, but from a woman - and of all people, a leader of women? It says something profound about leadership - and, if anything - what it says about followers is not very flattering at all.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedRight now though, there is little that concerns me more than the impending assault on the human rights and equality of women and the pink community in South Africa. Right now there are events afoot in this country which justify my concern.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedBeauty... Is what you are after a lifetime of struggle in the face of hostility, surviving, and standing scarred and unafraid, triumphant before your enemies.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIrony: When those who call others a 'threat to Christianity' reject the crucial tenets of their own faith themselves.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedChristianity is constantly in danger of being hijacked by people who act out in hatred - by people who will not even hear the cries of their victims, let alone own up to their guilt.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedThe only marches I have ever witnessed under a banner of so-called "Christianity" have been to enforce oppression and incite hatred and intolerance - and to deprive people of their equal civil rights.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedWe got to see a Corsair ship up close – all matt black, no markings, no lights – and practically invisible out here in the dark! What a sight to behold! Most people don’t get to see those bastards up close. That is, for very long! Anyways, the ship was just floating there, no sign of life. Our hails weren’t being answered, and so we assumed the ship was dead in space. Captain Mulligan, gods-rest-his-soul, told me to form a boarding party of security and medics from the sickbay and that we were going over there. We weren’t a military ship, and we’re not Star Marines, so we were lightly armed and quite nervous. I mean, this wasn’t just some of my security section being called out to break up a fight at one of the bars on the promenade, this was serious life-and-death shit! So I said ‘okay’, and told my assistant supervisor, Lisa Garfner, to get them all together. Seven of us shifted over to the other ship with the transmatter (you still use those things, I take it?) not knowing what to expect. It could’ve been anything… and it was. It was crazy.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedAt forty two years, Sona Kilroy stood tall and strapping, a powerful figure. Rising to the rank of Admiral in the Corsair fleet was no easy feat. It took intelligence, talent, determination, resilience, creative thinking, brute force, and sheer cunning to achieve – and perhaps also a large slice of luck.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedIntelligence reports and local folklore together perpetuated tales of his bloody adventures across the rim worlds and badlands of Terran space. It was his trademark and often over the last two decades, history proclaimed in large bloody letters that ‘Kilroy woz ‘ere.Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedThe original KDF-wagen as it was called was basic and rudimentary, but essentially the same as the later post war production cars that followed. Features of this vehicle included cable operated brakes (!!) and a tiny 800cc flat four motor with a single exhaust, 16 inch tires and the KDF twin glove compartment (without lids) dash.Oh, and last but not least – probably the most famous and sought-after rear window in automotive history!Christina Engela / quote ↗
UndatedHow anyone can vote to support any form of fascism, knowing history, is beyond me - which leads me to draw the conclusion that either the people who voted to support it don't know what they are doing - or that they know exactly what they are doing.Christina Engela / quote ↗
